Watching “Religious” AI-generated content

As-Salāmu ʿAlaykum Wa-Raḥmatullāhi Wa-Barakātuh

We appreciate your zeal in seeking the truth and you should never hesitate from asking important questions. In today’s age, where media outlet is one of the main sources of getting information, at times it may be misrepresented, hence it is crucial to verify where any claim is coming from. As the famous Tābiʿī, Muḥammad Ibn Sīrīn رحمه الله (d. 110 AH) beautifully said:

قال محمد بن سيرين رحمه الله: «‌إن ‌هذا ‌العلم ‌دين فانظروا عمن تأخذون دينكم.»

“Indeed, this knowledge is religion, so be cautious of whom you take your religion from.”[i]

We do not know who created this content, so we cannot comment on its credibility. However, after briefly reviewing the video, we can conclude that it is AI-generated and contains background music. Watching religious content with impermissible elements such as music is not allowed.[ii] Therefore, this video should be avoided.

In today’s world, where AI-generated content is widespread, we must be cautious about the information we consume. Additionally, the video discusses Fatimah رضي الله عنها, and any information about her should be taken with extra care, as many fabricated statements about her exist from Shia sources.
